Sandblast Window Film – what is it?
Sandblast Film for windows or 3M 5525-324 Scotchcal Sandblast Film is a calendered glass decorative film designed for application on flat surfaces such as glass or clear acrylic. Its crystal clear adhesive provides the same appearance from both sides of the decorating elements.
3M Windows films with sandblast effects are widely used to decorate promotional showcases, partitions, and windows at hotels, restaurants, offices, building facades, etc. This Architectural Film is for indoor and outdoor applications. Using Glass Decorative Films can be created interesting interior decorations or can be separated “personal” spaces.
Sandblast window film is offered with two different types of adhesive layers: pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive and Comply™ adhesive. These are the products: 3M 5525-324 Scotchcal sandblast film and 3M 5525C-324 Scotchcal sandblast effect window film. The adhesive layer is the main factor that determines how fast and easy the window films will be applied.
Comply™ adhesive repeatedly speeds up the installation
Comply™ adhesive has multiple air-release channels forming a grid. They help to get rid of air bubbles between the surface and the film. Comply™ adhesive adds a unique characteristic to the film adhesive that enables faster application with very few air bubbles, whether it is applied by professional or amateur installers.. Even if an air bubble appears during the application, it can be extracted only by holding your finger for a few seconds on it. So the whole process of installing a sandblast film happens very easily and fast.
It can be applied at low temperatures
3M Sandblast film with Comply™ adhesive is recommended for the dry application method only. It means no water during installation which help at low temperatures. 3М 5525C-324 с Comply™ can be applied at 5°C and lower. It is below the recommended application temperature for film, air, and substrate.
We tested an installation of small details sandblast film with Comply™ on a showcase at 3-4°C. The attempt shows the ease of graphics application and a perfect look. If we had used 3М 5525-324 Sandblast with pressure-sensitive adhesive, the installation would have failed because at this temperature the film would have folded.
All these advantages of 3M Sandblast Film with Comply™ adhesive are preferred by film installers. The minor difference between its price and the price of sandblast film with the standard acrylic adhesive is paid completely over the operation period. It guarantees good quality and the opportunity to install in cold weather.
