Hundreds of waste containers were branded with a special sticker made from 3M wide-format printing film. The self-adhesive product used for the branded item was 3M Print Wrap IJ180mC-10LSE – a self-adhesive film for digital printing, designed for use on difficult-to-adhere surfaces. Such surfaces are those with low surface energy (Low Surface Energy). The waste containers used by Komunal Engineering are made of these LSE plastics.
3M Print Wrap IJ180mC-10LSE features a pressure-sensitive adhesive, which ensures smooth sliding and adhesion. The performance is further enhanced by 3M’s Compy and Controltack adhesive layer technologies. The Comply system consists of thousands of tiny channels forming a grid, through which air is expelled with light pressure on the surface. The Controltac technology limits the initial contact between the film and the surface, thanks to millions of dispersed glass microspheres in the adhesive layer. This allows the film to be repositioned multiple times during installation.
Can 3D surfaces be wrapped?
The 3M IJ180mC-10LSE film for difficult-to-stick surfaces is cast. This means it is created using a casting technology. As a result, the film does not have internal stress, is flexible, and has no physical memory. Thanks to the absence of physical memory, 3M Print Wrap IJ180mC-10LSE can be stretched up to 130% of its original size. Moreover, cast self-adhesive film is the only PVC film suitable for wrapping 3D surfaces.
